Remembering the Old Internet

Finding this post from bluesky by rahaeli (BTW the site she talks about owning is Dreamwidth) really reminds me of LiveJournal. I wasn't a long time user. I joined LJ around Strikethrough and realized that it was not a good place for me and kinda lurked around until I found tumblr a while later (and to this day I wish I'd have gone to DW instead). But yeah it was one of many purges I watched happen (outside of the Tumblr NSFW Ban I never deleted an account due to a purge and have never had an account deleted ever) and every time it's so messy.

The communities (in my case fandom and/or paganism) always loses so much when we are forced to leave. We lose knowledge, art, friends, and a personal sense of safety and community. And we have to hope there's good places to land... and even if they do work they're often different enough there's a learning curve.  It's always hard and one big reason why I post either here or DW anymore is they are old quiet stable sites that aren't big on changes... or reacting to other people freaking out.

Especially DW... aspects of my life that are more NSFW (fandom and some original writing) will be there as long as the site is because the owner gets it. She's able to see the big picture and is willing to fight for freedom of speech, anonymity, and an open internet. Things I hold as important to... even if I am just a small time blogger talking about nothing important (well except for my faith but even that's only important to me). And yeah Blogger is owned by Google but for my more SFW stuff I feel safe enough and anything I consider important will be always be locally saved so at least I won't lose anything.

Once my site is revamped I plan on making sure it's linked everywhere so if something does happen people will always have a way to find me... assuming I find any. LAMO

Colors

Found in
Blood dripping
Spilled in anger
reaped in pain
Or in passion
Roses decorating
the bodies writhing
in pleasure

Found in the sun
Setting or rising
Hands painting
capturing the scene
Or in the taste
of a fruit with a shared name
awakening your taste buds

Found in the eye
of a daisy
as it bobs joyfully
under a cloudless sky
Or in the hearts of those
who live contained
by pain and by fear

Found in the plants
Growing all around
Life fed from fire
and in turn feeds us all
And in the money
some say we need
Paying for our life
And always wanting more

Found in sky and sea
Calming--soothing--healing
Found in few other places
Something so common
and yet so rare
A touch of grace
to see us through

Found rarely but
Some flowers show it true
Worn by royalty
Loved by so many
For here we find
the scared here on earth
